Become a Roadway Programs Technician 1 with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Be part of our committed team, acting as the primary contact for accident reporting and fuel discrepancies for the Allegheny County Office staff, which includes handling payroll entries, investigating cross charge issues, and making necessary corrections. In this role, you will deliver both technical and administrative support for garage and field operations. Your duties will involve examining payroll data for inconsistencies, maintaining records, and addressing pay-related matters such as overtime. You will oversee the Tort Claims process for Allegheny County by inputting customer information into the system and tracking and updating accident report data. Furthermore, you will be responsible for monitoring M-614, entering data into SAP, and ensuring accurate filing systems are maintained. You will produce weekly and monthly SAP/BW Warehouse reports for the Equipment Manager to evaluate garage and field activities as well as budget considerations, while also reviewing reports daily to rectify any discrepancies. Additionally, you will assist the Purchasing Agent in reconciling the Active pay process by aligning invoices with receipts, along with various accounting responsibilities such as processing invoices and managing purchasing cards. You will prepare and oversee cash advancement requests for utilities, ensuring proper fund accounting in SAP. Support will also be provided to other clerical and managerial staff as needed, including tracking crew production rates. It is essential to possess the ability to read and comprehend various policies and technical information, follow instructions, operate office equipment, and communicate effectively with colleagues and the public on sensitive matters. You must also be capable of clear writing, performing physical tasks, and wearing necessary protective gear when required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
  • This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS)
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Technical Assistant; or
  • One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment and graduation from high school or GED equivalent; or
  • An Associate's Degree in a field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or other closely related program; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
