- THE POSITION
The Department of Transportation invites applications for an exciting opportunity to join our bridge inspection team. We are seeking a motivated individual to assist the team leader in performing essential technical duties while inspecting all bridges and structures throughout District 2-0. - DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Transportation Construction Inspector, you will prepare detailed bridge inspection reports documenting all findings and deficiencies. As needed, your reports will include essential elements such as photographs, sketches, measurements, inspection summaries, and basic structural analysis data. We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of federal codes, departmental regulations, and Pub. 238 related to bridge inspection. You will also handle boat and crane inspections and deck test surveys. Your bridge management system (BMS) expertise will empower you to efficiently conduct inquiries, execute updates, and precisely enter data. You will guarantee that all information in the computer system is accurate and reliable. In addition, you will prepare essential correspondence and work alongside the team leader to optimize the bridge inspection schedule effectively.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: If you are eligible, you may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Clearfield.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,890 (before taxes).

- REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work;or
- Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
- One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); or
- Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or
- One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
