The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Division of Installation Maintenance is seeking a dedicated Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. As a WWTP Operator you will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the overall operation of the WWTP, including 15 lift stations throughout Fort Indiantown Gap. You will operate and maintain equipment, read meters and record data, and conduct sampling and laboratory analysis. You will ensure compliance with DEP and EPA rules and regulations as well as attend training sessions and correspondence courses to maintain knowledge for license renewals. In addition, you will be responsible for keeping the WWTP, pumping stations, and all equipment clean and sanitary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating weekends and holidays. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.

- Essential Employee: You will be required to work during emergencies and office closings.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) program and certification as a wastewater treatment plant operator for any class and type of plant; or
- Possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator for any class and type of plant.
Special Requirements:
You must be in possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator that is equal to or greater than the a Class B, Subclass E, 1 and 4 Certification.
You must be in possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Additional Requirements:
- You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Formal training in wastewater management
- Experience in the operation of a Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)
- Experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of motors, pumps, compressors, valves, filters, and/or other related WWTP equipment
- Experience in performing sampling/testing of plant influent or effluent for environmental protection
