What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator position at Commonwealth of Pennsylvania?
The individual in this role is tasked with overseeing the upkeep and repair of the park's swimming pool, as well as the water distribution and sewage collection systems, along with their related components. This responsibility encompasses a range of activities, including the preparation of all water systems for winter and their subsequent activation, which involves pumps, filters, plumbing, restrooms, and bathhouses.
In addition to managing the pool complex, the employee is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of all equipment related to pool operations, such as pumps, filters, ladders, and the maintenance of the surrounding buildings and grounds. The role also requires the maintenance of essential records in compliance with regulations set by the Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Health, which includes conducting quality control tests to safeguard public health and safety. The employee is responsible for collecting water samples from the pool, completing necessary documentation, and keeping accurate records.
Furthermore, the employee is expected to maintain an inventory of essential supplies, chemicals, and repair parts to ensure the continuous operation of the facilities. Proficiency in reading wiring and plumbing diagrams, as well as schematic blueprints, is essential for this position. The employee also engages in the maintenance and repair of park grounds, buildings, and facilities, utilizing a variety of equipment, vehicles, power tools, and hand tools.
Additional responsibilities may include custodial duties, trash collection, snow removal, landscaping, tree removal, painting, and equipment repair, as assigned. The employee is also expected to perform related tasks as necessary and provide assistance to other tradespeople when required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Shift hours and days vary due to operational need, with a 30-minute lunch
- Weekends, holidays and all shifts as needed at 37.5 hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee (commonwealth title) program and certification as a wastewater treatment plant operator for any class and type of plant; or
- Possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator for any class and type of plant.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires you to have possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator that is equal to or greater than the classification and sub classification of the wastewater system to be operated or maintained.
- This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Other Requirements:

Post Employment Requirements:
- Completion of training for Certified Pool Operator and PA Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator for Category 24.
