What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Consultant position at Commonwealth Payroll?
Commonwealth Payroll is recruiting for a new Payroll Consultant. This is a newly created position due to growth and a great opportunity to be mentored by an experienced manager. This is an in-person position based in our Virginia Beach office.

Responsibilities: The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work with clients to create and process their payrolls accurately and timely
- Respond to customer support tickets and resolve payroll related questions and issues
- Utilize your understanding of federal and state taxes, employee benefits, insurance policies, retirement plans, time off plans, etc. to support clients, as needed
- Review payroll reports prior to processing payrolls to catch and prevent errors
- Work in the time and attendance system to assist clients
- Add child support orders, garnishments, liens, and levies to employee profiles as those are received from clients
- Assist with accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W2s, 1095s, 1099s etc.)
Qualifications:
- At least 4 years of experience in Payroll
- An Associates or Bachelor's Degree is preferred, but not required
- FPC is preferred but not required
- Must be a team player and be able to meet tight deadlines,
- High level of detail-orientation, time management, and organizational skills
- Strong customer support and communication skills.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $62,500.00 per year
