What are the responsibilities and job description for the COORDINATOR JOB DEVELOPMENT position at Communicare, Inc?
POSITION SUMMARY: Provides support to individuals with Disabilities in supported employment.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school education and 5 years direct experience in the field of developmental disabilities, Associates and 3 years. Bachelor’s degree and 1 years of direct experience in the field of developmental disabilities is preferred. Ability to work as an effective team player is essential. Must provide own transportation.
SKILL SETS: Basic knowledge of MS –Office, typing ability, communication, and organization and presentation skills.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIORMENTAL DEMANDS: Visual acuity necessary for transporting individuals. Work is light with walking, standing, sitting and occasional stooping. Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens, biohazardous waste and hazardous waste. Possible exposure to communicable diseases. Strength, balance and dexterity required when performing safe physical management techniques with acting out individuals. Frequent talking and hearing when communicating with individuals, families and employers.
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
- Engages individuals and establishes trusting, collaborative relationships directed toward the goal of competitive employment in community job setting with other workers without disabilities.
- Discusses individual’s preference for disclosure of disability to employers, including possible costs and benefits and specific information to be disclosed. Provides assistance with the job search regardless of individual’s preferences regarding disclosure (i.e., support without employer contact when individual chooses not to disclose).
- Conducts job development and job search activities directed toward positions that are individualized to the interests and uniqueness of the people on his/her caseload, following the principles and procedures of SE.
4. Performs other duties as assigned.
