At Easterseals PORT Health, a non-profit service provider in North Carolina and Virginia, we’re dedicated to making a real difference in people’s lives. As a Family Peer Support Coordinator, you’ll guide families, caregivers, and self-advocates through tough times, helping them access support and resources so they feel more hopeful and confident.
What You'll Do
As part of our team, you’ll:
- Help self-advocates, families, and caregivers find the services and resources they need to care for their loved ones during life transitions.
- Facilitate communication between self-advocates, families, and caregivers and health care providers to insure needs met in a timely manner.
- Support families during important meetings and help them prepare for big decisions.
- Be a friendly and compassionate voice for families who call our support line for information.
- Connect families with community providers who have expertise in supporting individuals with developmental or mental health challenges.
- Share information to reduce feelings of stigma and help families feel more understood and supported.
- Provide resources about available funding options and how to access them.
- Regularly check in with families to make sure their needs are being met and progress is happening.

Who You Are
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has personal experience caring for a loved one with developmental disabilities or mental health needs.
- Has at least a high school diploma or GED.
- Has a valid North Carolina driver’s license, a good driving record, insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Knows how to connect families to helpful resources and services in their area.
- Can juggle multiple responsibilities while staying organized.
- Is great at building positive relationships with families and community partners.
Your Schedule
This is a full-time role, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM, with occasional weekends when needed.
