PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Creative Design Specialist promotes a positive image of the school district to attain increases in student enrollment and assists in managing the district’s efforts in strengthening community engagement through outreach projects, volunteering acts, community events, and partnerships. This position maintains the District website and mass communications system as well as provides assistance and training to campus and district staff in creating and posting appropriate content. The Creative Design Specialist also assists the district’s efforts in strengthening community engagement through outreach projects, community events, partnerships, and governmental relations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or equivalent years of work experience in computer science, web design, multimedia, graphic design, or related field
- Production and editing certifications preferred
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of web markup tools and languages; HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML preferred
- Proficiency in video production editing preferred
- Be able to work independently as well as with a team
- Be able to meet strict deadlines and commitments
- Be able to adapt and pick up new skills quickly
- Excellent public relations, organizational, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills
- Be proactive thorough, precise and have excellent follow-up

Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience designing and maintaining web sites
- Experience with graphic design software and an ability to visually judge the quality and effectiveness of graphics and visual content
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

- Maintains district website, and monitors for appropriate, timely and current information including posting and updating all legally required website content.
- Establishes standards for website implementation, maintenance, and training.
- Coordinates activities with Communications Department to create a unified and effective web presence.
- Develops, schedules and implements regular training of website content to campus and department webmasters on use and best practices for the various applications within the website.
- Manages the day-to-day operation of the district and school’s websites, ensuring the functionality, navigation, and overall performance meet the needs of the district/school. This includes ongoing maintenance and updates including content, adding functionality, optimizing images, and includes links, database, and other website add-ons.
- Assures that the website design is attractive, professional, informative, error-free, and intuitive.
- Creates and produces graphics for website, digital media and print publications.
- Takes photographs for district publications, presentations, displays and social media platforms.
- Provides timely responses to inquiries through email and social media posts.
- Maintains confidentiality as it pertains to the position and data.
- Build and maintain relationships with members of the community
- Develop and implement community outreach programs that will influence public opinion and strengthen district and community partnerships
- Develop and implement a plan to ensure governmental priorities that impact public schools are communicated stakeholders
- Assists with preparation and attend district/department sponsored and Judson Education Foundation events.
- Keeps informed of school district developments.
- Ensures articulation of school district’s desired image, position, and strategic priorities within the district and community.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and professional learning opportunities.
- Explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments and the Communications Department.
- Works evenings, weekends, and district special events as needed.
- Maintains a consistent professional demeanor and appearance.
- Ensures compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics.
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
