Position Overview:

The Director of Network Training is a member of the Network Support Team who drives quality student supports and promotes sustainable and strong affiliate operations. This team deepens the impact of CIS across North Carolina by training, coaching, and providing technical assistance to staff and board members across our network of affiliated organizations. This position focuses on supporting and facilitating the design of trainings using adult learning best-practices, developing necessary content, and learning pathways, and delivering trainings, where required, to relevant stakeholders.

They collaborate closely with program leaders across the North Carolina CIS network and coordinate training support with CISNC team members and CIS National to ensure maximum impact.

The Director of Training is a key role in executing our strategic plan and reinforcing CISNC’s culture of quality, innovation, performance, and continuous improvement. Working together, our staff and board are focused on the following critical outcomes:

  • Leaders across the network have relationships with each other, share ideas and resources, innovate, and collaborate
  • The CIS network is widely recognized as a leader in high impact student supports, with strong relationships at the state and local levels
  • Affiliates and direct services are strong and sustainable, delivering high impact student supports
  • More students, schools, and communities have CIS programs
  • Students served by the CIS network have equitable outcomes and are equipped and empowered to thrive in school and life

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for developing a sustainable hybrid learning infrastructure that enables moving learning to action.
  • Plan and coordinate the CISNC annual training calendar of up to 20 offerings annually, ensuring alignment to NC network needs and with CIS National resources/trainings
  • Responsible for planning, designing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating professional learning pathways and trainings for site staff, program directors, and executive directors
  • Organize and facilitate trainings for state-wide evidence-based programs (e.g., Check & Connect, Motivational Interviewing), including supporting external trainers, when necessary
  • Working with internal and external team members and partners, develop or support the development of content for trainings
  • Lead a committee to plan and implement the annual CISNC Impact Conference
  • Seek new, innovative opportunities for advancing CISNC professional development training modalities
  • Develop and manage network of CISNC trainers who support delivery of trainings
  • Stay current on state and national professional development standards and best-practices
  • Promote the distribution of internal and external staff development opportunities
  • Travel: 25%
  • Ability to see, hear, speak, and travel
  • Must be able to lift 20lbs

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3 years’ experience in education, school-based student supports, program development, and/or community-based organizations
  • Experience developing and delivering high-quality trainings preferred.
  • Technologically proficient in all office technology systems including spreadsheets, word processing, email, and Zoom/Skype.

Necessary Skills:

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Must be self-motivated, well-organized, detail oriented, and able to effectively work independently and within a team framework
  • Ability to engage trainees through meaningful activities in-person and virtually
  • Strong knowledge of schools, education systems, and student supports
  • Sensitivity to and strong concern for the needs of children, youth and their families is required.
  • Prior experience working with diverse communities is required

Additional Functions:

  • Types reports as needed to support grant and funding deliverables
  • Presents at affiliate and state board meetings as needed
  • Supports the leadership development of Executive Directors, Program Directors and other aspiring leaders in the network
  • Manages and supports key partnerships which enhance the purpose of CIS across North Carolina
