Job Summary :
At Communities in Schools, we are “all in for kids.” As the State Office for Pennsylvania, Communities in Schools of Pennsylvania delivers CIS programs across the state and collaborates with local CIS affiliates to make sure young people have the tools they need to stay in school and achieve in life. The Accounting Coordinator reports to the Controller and works closely with members of the Finance, HR, Development, and Executive teams. This person works with a high degree of independence to support colleagues, third parties, and the mission of CISPA by managing and performing tasks related to key accounting operations. These areas include, but are not limited to, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and cash management. The person in this role has access to sensitive information and must maintain strict confidentiality.
This position is expected to work on-site in-person at the CISPA State Office in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.
Core business hours for this role are Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 AM – 4 : 00 PM.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Work with other members of the team to compile, analyze and report financial data.
- Prepare and post journal entries to general ledger.
- Use accounting software to enter information accurately and according to established procedures.
- Ensure that accounts payable transactions, customer invoices and bank deposits are processed accurately and promptly.
- Process payroll and prepare necessary payroll reports, including posting payroll to the general ledger.
- Assist with the month end closing process and the preparation of monthly financial reports and materials.
- Reconcile accounts and reports within and between systems.
- Conduct audit preparation activities and support Controller during annual audit.
- Assist with the annual budgeting process.
- Assist in maintaining the vendor database in the accounting system and preparing vendor reporting.
- Assist with tasks related to gift entry, acknowledgement and reporting to support fundraising efforts.
- Uphold and enforce the organization’s fiscal policies and procedures; provide recommendations regarding policy revisions to the Controller as appropriate.
- Daily office tasks include opening and sending mail, answering phone calls, completing supply orders and providing administrative support to other departments as well as other office / building upkeep.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

This is a year-round, full-time, non-exempt position with renewal based on annual funding. It is also a benefits eligible position.
