Communities In Schools of South Central Texas has a successful 30-year history of providing a myriad of services to students and their families. The program is part of a national network of nonprofits called “Communities In Schools” that provides direct professional services to students who are at-risk of dropping out of school and who may need additional assistance in their daily lives. The organization is well-respected and has grown tremendously over the past years.
Serving 8 school districts across four counties, the organization has a budget of approximately $5.4 Million and serves approximately 40,000 students and young adults with preventive and intervention services. The six components that make up CIS of South Central Texas are supportive guidance and counseling, health and human services, parental and family engagement, college and career awareness, educational enrichment, and academic support.
Position Summary
The Site Coordinator is responsible for the needs assessment, campus planning, and implementation of the day-to-day operations of the CIS Model at an assigned school site. The Site Coordinator works closely with school administration, campus staff, community partners, parents / guardians, and students to assure quality programming is implemented in line with the CIS Model as well as intentional wrap around services are provided for individual student support. This position requires the candidate to be bilingual, to speak fluently in both Spanish and English.
The Site Coordinator will coordinate intentional services on a campus setting to address campus-wide goals and needs. The Site Coordinator is directly responsible for providing and brokering services to meet the academic, mental and behavioral health, and attendance goals for the number of students intensively served on the campus. The Site Coordinator will also provide services and school events in line with the CIS campus goal for the entire campus. The Site Coordinator will integrate into the campus team as well as be an active member of the CIS staff.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, & Competencies
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :
Campus Integration
- Promote communication and cooperation between faculty, school administration and the CIS program to establish an effective school support plan and service delivery plan for students.
- Effectively collaborate and communicate with school personnel and the student support team to plan and deliver intentional services / programming in line with campus needs.
- Complete a comprehensive annual needs assessment for the campus with input from appropriate persons on the CIS campus site.
- Educate school staff about the CIS Model and services available to students.
- Regular intentional communication with designated campus point of contact (principal or assistant principal.

Requirements :
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
The Site Coordinator will :
Required Education
Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, sociology, or a related field required for secondary campuses.
Preferred skills and experience
Experience working in the social services field preferred. Salary will be commensurate with years of related / relevant work experience and level of education, qualifying licensure, and Spanish speaking fluency.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This is a Full-Time in person position located on a school campus. Workdays are generally Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day based on campus location start and end time. This position occasionally requires extended hours and possible weekend work. The ability to work in a fast-paced group setting with students and faculty present is necessary.
Travel Requirements
Must have the ability to travel in personal vehicle to and from students' homes, and other community areas to purchase supplies for programming and family needs. Travel to staff meetings and other agency trainings and events will be required monthly.
