Essential Job Functions
- Maintains and repairs buildings’ plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts.
- Maintains and repairs wood parts of buildings; installs carpentry and makes necessary repairs; repairs or replaces building brick, stone, and/or concrete, as needed.
- General landscaping and grounds maintenance, to include lawn and garden care, leaf and snow removal, and parking lot and sidewalk repairs.
- Maintain landscaping and ground maintenance equipment in working order by repairing/replacing worn or damaged parts.
- Ensures all buildings are locked down and secured, as needed.
- Painting of interior and exterior walls and trim.
Other Job Functions
- General facility duties, such as wall hangings, moving of furniture/heavy objects, unloading and storing supplies, etc.
- Additional duties as directed by the Maintenance Director and Administrators.

Qualifications:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational skills.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma, or equivalent required
- At least two (2) years of maintenance experience required
- Demonstrated ability to operate heavy machinery, e.g. backhoe, snow blower, street sweeper, riding mower, etc.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license, from the state of residence and be able to obtain Archdiocesan driving approval
Language Ability:
Must be able to effectively understand, read, write, print legibly, speak and do the following using the English language: read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
Working knowledge of computers is preferred, but not required.
Certificates and Licenses:
Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license, from the state of residence and be able to obtain Archdiocesan driving approval
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is not responsible for supervision of staff.
Work Environment:
- Position will require employee to work in outdoor conditions on a frequent basis.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work in a variety of settings and environments and has a moderate exposure risk to adverse weather conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- In the event that unanticipated aggressive behavior manifests from individuals served and de-escalation techniques fail, physical crisis intervention may be required.
Physical Demands:
- The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds, with assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and sit.
- The employee is frequently required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Hazards:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may face low exposure risks to blood borne pathogens, with a high exposure risk to hazardous materials.
