What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Home Repair Supervisor position at Community Action Agency of Oklahoma City?
JOB SUMMARY:
- Responsible for the daily operation of the Agency's Emergency Home Repair Program.
- Under general direction; plans, directs, and supervises the Agency Emergency Home Repair Program.
- Provides technical assistance as required.
- Performs home assessments to determine various emergency repairs needed. Maintains accumulation of total funds utilized and available per client. Measures roofs for materials needed with staff.
- Maintains a list of all client data, needed repairs, degree of emergency, etc. Updates supervisor of status weekly.
- Writes purchase orders and inspects complete emergency home repair tasks.
- Maintains material safety data sheet on utilized products in office and vehicles.
- Supervises the operation, maintenance, and control of tools and equipment.
- Prepares cost estimates and specifications for contract services. Maintains a running accumulative total of funds spent on each home.
- Participates in interviewing and selection of Carpentry personnel.
- Inspects work performed by subcontractors to ensure conformance with specifications and building codes.
- Ensure updated income, picture I.D., and social security are in file when submitting work orders for approval to the Housing/Maintenance Director.
- Coordinates with the Housing/Maintenance Director to integrate program objectives, crew, and contractor schedule, and maximize service to eligible participants.
- Attends scheduled meetings, and maintains required certifications. Ensure staff utilizes required safety standards.
- This position requires frequent travel to offsite locations.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Housing/ Maintenance Director.
- Graduate from an accredited building trade school. Five (5) years experience in residential building trades. Additional experience may be substituted for required education on a year-to-year basis.
- Ability to communicate (written and oral) building trade techniques.
- Ability to work with clients and the public.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement required data and assignments.
- Possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license and have dependable transportation.
- Have no non-qualifying physical requirements.
- Must be computer literate.
- This position is considered safety-sensitive under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act.
About Community Action Agency of Oklahoma City:
The Community Action Agency of OKC/Oklahoma County was established in 1966, and initially was financed by the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, which launched the nation’s “War on Poverty.” Eventually the funding was consolidated into the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG). The Community Services division was implemented early on, serving low-income residents of Oklahoma County. Early programs included implementing the Food Stamp program and offering a nutrition program for seniors at meal centers.Today the division has greatly expanded to offer legal assistance; tax assistance; summer youth programs; senior transportation to meal sites, medical appointments, and shopping; rent and mortgage assistance; and other community needs.HEAD STARTThe Agency’s first Head Start center opened its doors to 39 families in 1965. Within two years, nine new centers and 575 children entered Head Start in Oklahoma County. Today we have 26 Head Start classrooms in 15 public schools, and 98 Head Start classrooms total providing services to thousands of children in Oklahoma County.
