YOUR IMPACT AS: Transportation Dispatcher
As a Transportation Dispatcher, you will be at the heart of our daily operations, ensuring the efficient coordination of our transportation fleet to deliver food and supplies where they are needed most.
In this essential role, you'll manage the logistics that keep our operation running smoothly. You'll coordinate timely and accurate deliveries to food pantries, shelters, and community partners. As the primary point of contact for drivers, you'll provide guidance and support for successful routes. Your responsibilities will include monitoring fleet operations to ensure safety and compliance with all state and federal regulations, resolving unexpected challenges such as delays or route changes, and collaborating with warehouse staff and other departments to meet organizational goals. In this role, you will contribute to a mission that directly impacts the lives of thousands of families in our community.
Your efforts will play a key role in helping Second Harvest fulfill its mission of combating hunger across the Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
To excel in this role, you'll need 1-3 years of experience in dispatch, logistics, or a related field. While a CDL Class A or B is preferred, it is not required. Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and partners are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with transportation software and GPS systems will also set you up for success. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with additional training in logistics or transportation preferred. Beyond skills and experience, we value individuals with a professional attitude, initiative, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
