Description
Under the supervision of the Health Services Manager, coordinates the operation of Health Services for children 0-5. Responsible for ensuring that all relevant health and safety standards are met including federal, state, and local health guidelines and OSHA.
Primary Responsibilities
Administration and Management

Assist in the development and implementation of goals, policies, and activities designed to implement the agency’s mission, objectives, and performance standards in providing high quality services to children and families.

Assist the Health Services Manager in monitoring the budget for health services.

Maintain and update health records for children and staff.
-
Review health records to determine the need for intervention, training, or community response.
Coordination of Services

Serve as a resource to program staff regarding health issues, including oral health, physical health, mental health, and nutrition.

Coordinate dental, vision and hearing screenings across all sites, home base, and Family Child Care Homes.

Participate in case management meetings to support relevant health concerns.

Advocate for children and families in the community on behalf of Children and Family Services.

Support interagency agreements as necessary to provide quality services to Head Start and Child Development Programs children and families.

Represent Community Action Marin in the community and attend community meetings and events related to health and health advocacy.
Evaluation and Monitoring

Assist in preparing reports regularly for the Health Services Advisory Committee, Parent Leadership Council, Health Services Manager, and Director of Health Services to track the activities and outcomes of Health Services.

Ensure immunization reporting across all sites, Family Child Care Homes, and Home- Based programs.

Conduct data entry, reporting, and analysis related to health services.
Staff Development
-
Provide Health Services presentations to groups of new employees during monthly onboarding meetings.

Provide training and technical assistance to new staff and volunteers on agency policies and procedures for health to ensure quality health service delivery.

Coordinate training for all staff across Child and Family Services based on individual and group needs and skills assessments.
Services
-
Review all physicals to determine which children may require additional treatment and follow-up on referrals.

Consult with parents formally or informally, to share information about health concerns and other topics of concern for parents.

Facilitate Family Engagement Event meetings on health topics.

Serve as a resource to the Family Advocate Manager and Health Manager, regarding county and community referral services.

Prepare exposure notifications for distribution to staff and families.
-
Prepare required reports to Office of Head Start, Community Care Licensing, California Department of Public Health, and Marin Health and Human Services regarding health data and communicable disease cases or outbreaks.

Ensure that all health-related federal, state and local licensing regulations are met.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-
2 years of related experience working in programs with families and children.

Ability to work well with parents.
-
Strong verbal/written communication and management skills.
-
Deep understanding of the role equity, inclusion, and diversity play in our work.

Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Fingerprint clearance to work with young children.
-
Must have a current Criminal Record Clearance with a current Child Abuse Index Check on file with Community Care Licensing or provide fingerprints and a Child Abuse Index Check resulting in a Criminal Record Clearance from the Department of Justice prior to working in the classroom with children.

Successfully complete an employment physical and provide proof of the absence of TB within 7 days of the hire date.

Current CPR and First Aid.
