What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Services Assistant position at Community Action of Southern Indiana - Head Start?
The Special Services Assistant will support the Special Services Department in implementing a systems approach that supports the whole child and family in all aspects of health, mental health, positive behaviors, and disabilities as defined in the HS performance standards. The Special Services Assistant will work to carry out tasks to ensure fidelity and best practices that assist the program in providing a safe and nurturing environment for families and children. Champion positive classroom culture by ensuring that the pyramid model is used with fidelity through promoting positive behaviors, teaching important social-emotional skills, and preventing challenging behaviors through a tiered approach that addresses the needs of all children while providing additional support for those children who require it.
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. CDA in Early Childhood Education or willing to obtain one within two years of hire. Must have two years of experience working in a classroom in the early childhood education field.
