What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Services Manager position at Community Action of Southern Indiana - Head Start?
The Special Services Manager will work with the management team to design a best practice systems approach that supports the whole child and family in all aspects of health, mental health, positive behaviors, and disabilities as defined in the Head Start performance standards. This system will include ongoing monitoring and reporting to ensure fidelity of best practices and assist the program in providing a safe and nurturing environment for families and children.
Collaborate with Part B and Part C agencies, staff, and parents to ensure children with suspected disabilities receive evaluations and any needed services. Serve as an advocate and attend IEP and IFSP meetings to advocate on behalf of the child and the parents
Champion positive classroom culture by ensuring that the pyramid model is used with fidelity through promoting positive behaviors, teaching important social-emotional skills, and preventing challenging behaviors through a tiered approach that addresses the needs of all children while providing additional support for children who require it.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related degree, substantial experience and expertise working with children ages 0-5, families, and educators. Experience working with children with disabilities.
