Communications Coordinator
In this role, the Communications Coordinator will support agency efforts by highlighting our work and mission across the community. The Communications Coordinator will also support internal collaboration to ensure information is presented consistently, playing a critical part in the work and dedication of Community Action Partnership of Orange County’s initiatives. WHAT YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH IN THIS ROLE
Under the direct supervision of the Communications Manager, you will work closely with various departments to bolster donations, awareness, and support of agency initiatives by staying informed on agency programs, news, and events to ensure timely updates with our community. Success in this role will be demonstrated by effectively delivering CAP OC’s mission and messaging.
The hourly pay rate is $23.00 - $24.00.
The work schedule is a hybrid schedule – 4-days in the office and 1-day remote. Hybrid schedules are subject to change based on program needs and/or departmental manager’s discretion.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop a social media editorial calendar including copy and graphics.
- Work across departments to ensure all internal and external communications comply with CAP OC’s branding guidelines.
- Design and create marketing material using graphic design platforms including Canva, Adobe InDesign, etc.
- Coordinate with program teams to collect agency updates and success stories.
- Draft copy for use in various communications material including, but not limited to, emails, newsletters, donor communications, etc.
- Capture photos as needed at CAP OC facilitated programs and events.
- Other duties as assigned.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE IN
- EPIC standards, values, and upholding the EPIC pillars while demonstrating a positive attitude towards all participants, colleagues, management, and community.
- Proficiency using graphic design programs like Canva, Adobe InDesign, etc.
- Experience utilizing communication tools including Constant Contact and Hootsuite
- Experience crafting compelling content for social media
- Photography experience
- Strong organizational skills
- Clear, concise, effective writing ability
- Working effectively within demanding time constraints and/or multiple tasks. Must be detail oriented, work accurately and efficiently on a consistent basis
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field.
TRAVEL
Must possess a valid California Driver’s License with a driving record that meets minimum standards established by CAP OC’s insurance carrier, proof of vehicle insurance, access to a vehicle and willingness to drive/travel when required.
Typically, travel is required throughout Orange County, and occasionally to other areas as needed, during the business day using the incumbent’s personal vehicle. Possible travel during evening hours, possible out-of-the-area and overnight travel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, reach, pull, push, stand, kneel, sit, twist, turn, walk, bend at the waist, talk, and hear. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, ability to adjust focus, and perform prolonged computer work. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to twenty (20) pounds. Employee may be called upon to work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
MEDICAL EXAMINATION AND BACKGROUND CHECK
A medical examination is required of each new employee whose physical condition must meet the minimum requirements prescribed for the position.
