The Lead Teacher is responsible for day-to-day operations of classroom. The Lead Teacher is responsible for adherence to Head Start Performance Standards, CAPE’s policies and procedures, CAPE’s Mission Statement, NAEYC and State Licensing Standards.
EDUCATION AND REQUIRMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree with 27 hours in Early Childhood Education.
- Pass required drug screens and criminal history checks including national fingerprinting.
- Bilingual/Spanish a plus.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic, cultural backgrounds, and with disabilities or special needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build a positive relationship with families and children.
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment and maintain constant supervision of children and ensure their well-being.
- Work as a team member to meet needs of children and classroom as a whole.
- Meet the emotional, social, and cognitive needs of each child.
- Stay actively involved with children (participate in play, conversations, model behavior at mealtimes).
- Responsible for the physical, social and emotional climate of the classroom.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
