Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting our medical staff and ensuring the highest level of patient care. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, along with experience in various medical settings, including inpatient care and administrative support services to contribute to the efficient day-to-day operations providing a positive patient experience.

Clinical Duties

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
  • Record patient histories and vital signs accurately.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort.
  • Answer in-basket messages, prepare charts for upcoming appointments.
  • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording and updating personal and compliance information into the EMR.
  • Assists providers and patients with access and navigation to the patient portal.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by physicians or LVN.
  • In tandem with physicians, authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow to optimize clinic efficiency.
  • Perform routine laboratory point of care testing (POCT) and sample analysis.
  • Collect specimens, log, and prepare for testing.
  • Retrieves lab results as needed and uploads to medical record. Ensures process is followed for Physician review.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical equipment.

Administrative Support

To the providers and interacts with patients by scheduling patient appointments in tandem with the provider availability, manage in-basket and incoming faxes, interacts with patients in person and on the phone, answers clinic phone, collects patient information, updates/maintains electronic records, patient prior authorization for medication. This position will be primarily assigned to a work location; but may also float as needed to various CAMG Health clinic locations. This position may require you to work different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology to communicate effectively within the healthcare environment.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with the medical team and foster teamwork.
  • This version streamlines the idea while maintaining clarity and focus.
  • Proficiency in anatomy and physiology to assist in patient assessments.
  • Experience in inpatient settings, creating a safe and effective environment.
  • Ability to perform inhalation therapies as needed for patient care.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems for efficient documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact compassionately with patients and families.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively within a fast-paced environment.
  • Effectively manage Infection control

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Medical Assistant Diploma or CCMA
  • 1 years in a medical office
  • Pediatrics experience preferred
  • Experience with EMR (electronic medical records), medical terminology
  • Previous experience in specific medical field preferred
  • High School Diploma
  • BLS or CPR Certificate

Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information. Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes. Protects patient confidentiality by making sure protected health information (PHI) is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging of the computer before leaving it unattended.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.00 per week
