Peer Recovery Specialist / Wellness and Recovery Monitor (Part Time)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Community Support Program/ Wellness and Recovery Services is seeking a Part-Time Peer Monitor to provide a bridge between providers and adults with serious mental illness. Peer Monitor will assist in facilitating the care and well-being of adults receiving services.
The position requires one to share lived experience of mental illness and/or addiction (when appropriate), serve as a role model for peers, and share self-help techniques and effective coping strategies. Peer Recovery Specialists will help peers develop natural support systems.
Peer Recovery Specialists would have:
- Lived experience with behavioral health issues and/or addiction,
- Possess the ability to work and communicate effectively, and
- Have an outgoing and engaging personality to connect with individuals.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist with, at least, one year of experience working with individuals who are diagnosed with mental health, substance use and/or co-occurring disorders.
- Effective communication skills, good computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license, approved driving record, and reliable vehicle required.
