NATURE AND SCOPE:
The Behavior Specialist, through the provision of services, supports program participants to acquire, maintain or improve skills necessary to live more independently; or to be more productive and participatory in community life. Experience as a Behavior Technician or Behavior DSP is preferred. This position works closely with the Clinical Manager of Adult Services, Licensed Behavioral Specialist, Coordinator of Independently Living, and Adult Services Direct Support Professionals to provide high quality coordinated services to program participants designed to support the individuals plan goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prioritize the empowerment, choices, rights and safety of people with disabilities
• Provide support services in a compassionate, respectful manner that recognizes and honors individual choices.
• Work closely with, Clinical Manager of Adult Services , Coordinator of Independent Living, Program Specialists and other DSP’s to develop and implement quality individual support plans to support growth and independence of persons enrolled in the program
• Work independently and collaboratively to provide direct service to program participants in a
variety of settings to support skill development and independence
• Teach, model and coach as each participant and situation allows.
• Obtain and maintain CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification (CCC assists to obtain)
- Accurately and thoroughly complete all necessary documentation and training in accordance with CCC policies and procedures, funding stream regulations, and program participant’s Individual Support Plan
• Report and document any observed changes in program participant’s health status /condition
immediately to the Coordinator of Independent Living or the Clinical Manager of Adult Services-
Behavior Supports
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with other support staff to ensure participants’
interests, dreams and challenges are communicated to their ISP team
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with the Behavior Supports team to cooperatively ensure the best possible outcomes for the participants behavior modification
• Follow CCC policies and procedures
• Cultivate and implement effective communication skills
• Maintain HIPAA by following all security procedures to protect PHI and by immediately
reporting any suspected or actual privacy or security incidents.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of program requirements, policies and procedures, and
licensure/regulatory requirements
• Ensure that program participants’ needs are met in a safe manner using appropriate equipment in
accordance with their ISP and CCC policies and procedures.
• Immediately report any concerns, specifically those of abuse, neglect, fraud or waste
• Other related duties as required
