Job Summary
We are seeking a Behavior Support Specialist to develop and implement behavior support plans for individuals with developmental disabilities in compliance with ODP 6400 regulations. This role involves conducting functional assessments, crisis intervention, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to promote positive behavioral outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Observe and interact with individuals in various settings.
- Develop and implement positive behavior support plans tailored to individual needs.
- Create and implement prevention plans to address challenging behaviors.
- Conduct functional assessments to identify behavioral strategies.
- Train staff on plan implementation and provide ongoing coaching.
- Monitor progress and prepare detailed reports for each individual's support team.
- Participate as an active member of each person’s Inter-Disciplinary Team (IDT), contributing to Individual Habilitation Plan (IHP) development.
- Conduct crisis intervention at the site level, ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals and staff.
- Ensure compliance with ODP 6400 regulations and cooperate with state licensing and department staff during inspections or investigations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support individual success.
Qualifications
✅ Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
✅ Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
✅ Ability to complete all state and agency-required training per state guidelines.
✅ Strong understanding of community-based supports for individuals with disabilities.
✅ Ability to remain calm and exercise good judgment in crisis situations.
✅ Willingness to cooperate with state licensing staff as needed.
