EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR INTERVIEW
The Behavior Specialist will provide direct behavioral health services as part of the Behavior Health Clinical Team to all of McGuire Memorial programs. Behavior Specialists will be responsible for individuals by providing the development and implementation of the positive behavioral plan and/or crisis plans. Training of direct support staff on behavior support principles. Work locations could be in community homes, day programs or in community.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Required minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Applied Behavior Analysis, Sociology, Social Work or Human Services, OR
● Master’s Degree Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, or Human Services
● Required at least two years’ direct hands on experience supporting people with significant intellectual disabilities, autism or dual diagnosis
● Must possess a strong behavioral background with relative work experience, knowledge of behavior ABA principles
● Excellent organization skills, communication skills, independent work skills, and above average computer/iPad skills are necessary.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
● Conducting Functional Behavior Assessments of skill levels as assigned
● Developing behavioral support plans that are individualized and comprehensive, which utilized positive strategies and Crisis Intervention plans as needed
● Provide training to all direct support staff as needed on behavior plans
● Monitoring and analyzing data monthly completing summary of progress
● Ensure completion of all required regulatory documentation for all programs
● Attends psychiatric/psychological consults to provide behavioral data and updates on application of new/existing interventions.
● Responsible for participation in Human Rights Team Meetings for assigned
● Regular direct weekly observation of individuals with training for staff on implementation of BSP.
● Provide hands on support to individuals as needed
● Provide direct crisis support to individuals as needed
Flexible daily schedule. M – F. Some early mornings/evenings or weekends may be required as needed. Paid behavior on call responsibilities every 4 - 6 weeks.
