Community Care Network is looking for a Residential Shift Lead in Rutland, Vermont.

About the Role:

In addition to Recovery Specialist responsibilities, the Shift Leader will provide oversight of the day-to-day operations and maintain a safe, healthy and therapeutic residential environment. The Shift Leader will coordinate client services, maintain adherence with daily schedule, ensure treatment and discharge plans are being followed, mentor new staff, assist with staffing coverage. Assisting clients in minimizing symptoms of acute psychiatric episodes by structuring wellness activities, assessing needs and preferences within the residence and in the community, supportive counseling, planning discharge services and assisting clients for reintegration into community. The Shift Leader will steer effective communication and a good working relationship with the treatment team across all shifts to deliver efficient and effective care to clients, resulting in their return to home/community.

Principal Responsibilities:

Shift Leader:

  • Coordinate client services.
  • Effective shift coordination in adherence with daily and group schedule.
  • Ensure treatment plans are followed, and discharge plans are complete.
  • Mentor new staff.
  • Confirm quality and completeness of client notes.
  • Maintain 30 min head count and shift responsibilities sheets.
  • Responsible for helping maintain coverage on all shifts for the delivery of services.
  • Provide leadership and support to team members in crisis situations.
  • Manage cross shift communication.
  • Attendance at all meetings and trainings required.


Recovery Specialist:

  • Adheres to program philosophy, policies and procedures including established entrance, continued stay, and discharge criteria.
  • Provides outcome-oriented client services in accordance to their personal treatment plan including:
  • Providing direct billable services as needed for clients in the residential home.
  • Utilizing a recovery model, providing supportive counseling and constructive interactions to promote consumer stability and ability to cope with and adapt to new challenges.
  • Accurately observes, monitors and documents consumer behavior and assists in assessing stability.
  • Implement problem-solving strategies to address difficult, potentially dangerous consumer behavior.
  • Coordinates and assists consumers with attendance at appointments, programs or activities in the community.
  • Facilitates daily wellness activities including skill building groups and community integration activities. o Assists consumers with developing ADLs including hygiene, rest, nutrition and activity.
  • Transports clients as necessary using personal vehicle - Ensures the timely completion of all records and data collection as required by program, State, and accrediting bodies.
  • Works as an effective member of the support team.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings on a regular basis.
  • Assists Residential program leaders with co-worker training as requested.
  • Participates in community education activities as requested by supervisor.
  • Provide program assistance to Program Coordinator for the following items:
  • Assist with RRS scheduling to meet the needs of the program.
  • Provide logistical and practical support to other RRS staff; assist with questions about behavioral interventions.
  • Assist with training and orienting new RRS staff and continued training compliance for all Maplewood and CSID staff


Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, human services, social work or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a Residential Recovery Specialist or similar position.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to defuse challenging situations and work in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency with computers, experience entering data into electronic medical records program.
  • Knowledge and ability to work effectively with adults experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms as part of a team of professional care providers.
  • Understanding of the etiology and treatment of mental illness.
  • Ability to provide recovery-oriented counseling/support.
  • Ability to work with clients and their families in a residential-based setting.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to balance autonomy and work within team structure.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation with personal automobile liability insurance coverage at or above the levels mandated by the State of Vermont.
