We are hiring a Residential Peer Support Specialist to assist members of the Resident Supportive Services Program. As a self-identified mental health and / or substance use consumer, this position assists in developing daily living opportunities that promote safety, stability, and economic mobility, utilizing the tools developed in their own recovery. This position is part-time at 20 hours per week, with the main office being Lewiston or South Paris, with frequent travel to Lewiston, South Paris, and Farmington.
Essential Duties :
- Provides ongoing support, care, and conversation to participants and family members when appropriate.
- Engage participants in skill building opportunities and overcome barriers to community inclusion activities and education classes.
- Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and staff training and development activities.
- Encourage residents to maintain activities of daily living to increase their ability to keep their housing.

Other Requirements : Must have ability to be on a flexible schedule; Pre-employment background checks : Maine Background Check Center (SBI, Direct Care Worker Registry, Maine and National Sex Offender Registry, fraud, and federal debarment), DHHS- Child and Adult Protective, and DMV must be completed upon offer of hire and as a condition of continued employment; valid driver’s license and travel within the service area is required.
