What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drop-In Center Team Lead position at Community Counseling Centers of Chicago Inc?
Purpose:
Provide expertise from own personal experience in recovery from mental illness and/or substance abuse to benefit the individuals served by helping promote a culture that recognizes, understands, and respects each client's point of view, experiences, and preferences. Model exemplary behavior for other Center staff by remaining professional at all times and maintaining proper boundaries as reflected in CRSS training. Encourage use of the Drop-In Center and other community resources and services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Fosters peer-led socialization activities and WRAP opportunities in collaboration with the Center's other consumer leadership
- Assists with daily operations, including coverage during Center hours of operation, procurement of activity related resources, safety, and other needs as determined
- Provides referral for and/or direct crisis intervention services to assess and stabilize a consumer
- Maintains compliance at all times with agency policies regarding documentation
- Maintains compliance with confidentiality policies and procedures at all times
- Attends clinical meetings, supervision and trainings
- Works cooperatively with other members of the treatment team
- Maintains positive and mutually respectful relationships with other human service providers, entitlement agencies, health care vendors, and the community
- Assists with outcome measures
- Reports to assigned supervisor and actively seek consultation whenever necessary or requested by supervisor
- Oversees the work of other Peer Support Specialists during both weekday and weekend hours
- Responsible for scheduling staff to ensure adequate coverage during all hours of operation
- Responsible for the completion of administrative paperwork such as sign-in sheets, authorizations for media coverage, group schedules and announcements
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Willingness to self-disclose personal experience with systems of care addressing mental illness and/or substance abuse for the purpose of consumer engagement
- Must be a Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS), or obtain the certification within one year of starting the position
- Firsthand experience working with individuals living with mental illness and co-occurring disorder or personal, direct experience accessing mental health and/or substance abuse services is preferred but will train the right candidate.
