Role:
The Instructional Coach is pivotal to enhancing student achievement by building teacher capacity and deepening their understanding of instructional practices aligned with ITAVLA, Common Core standards, and data-driven instruction. As lifelong learners, instructional coaches model continuous improvement and go above and beyond to ensure student success.
Instructional coaches are integral in promoting reflective practices, providing guidance and structure where necessary, and fostering a collaborative environment focused on strengths and shared concerns. They are responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms by modeling effective teaching practices, co-planning, co-teaching, and offering constructive feedback to teachers.
With a passion for education, culturally responsive pedagogy, and leadership, instructional coaches demonstrate a commitment to driving positive change and supporting teachers in delivering the best possible education for students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the instructional growth of all teachers by deepening their understanding of the Common Core State Standards, ITAVLA’s curriculum, and rigorous, culturally responsive instruction.
Provide guidance on lesson pacing, unit planning, and differentiated instruction to meet individual student needs.
Model and share high-leverage instructional strategies aligned with ITAVLA’s mission and best practices.
Assist teachers in accessing and integrating high-quality instructional materials, digital tools, and resources.
Support teachers in aligning classroom instruction with ITAVLA’s core values and academic vision.
Lead collaborative planning sessions that promote student engagement, rigor, and instructional coherence.
Guide teachers in using assessment tools like iReady, DRA, and internal benchmarks to inform instruction.
Facilitate data meetings to identify trends, address gaps, and set actionable instructional goals.
Conduct coaching cycles that include planning, classroom observations, debriefs, and reflection.
Offer actionable, non-evaluative feedback to support professional growth and student outcomes.
Design and lead professional development sessions aligned with school-wide priorities.
Build and support grade-level and content-area learning communities.
Maintain accurate coaching logs, notes, and documentation of teacher progress.
Collaborate with school leaders to improve systems and structures that elevate teaching and learning.
Support teachers in understanding and upholding ITAVLA’s mission, vision, and academic expectations

Position Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $55,000 - $68,000
Required Education and Experience:
Minimum Master’s Degree, preferably in education or a related field.
Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) are strongly preferred but not required.
5 years of teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Previous administrative experience, such as serving as an assistant principal, instructional leader, or in another leadership capacity within a school setting, is preferred.
