Community & Family Resources is seeking a Women's Halfway House Counselor to provide substance use counseling and case management services to women living in the Bernie Lorenz Recovery halfway house.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReviews Halfway House applicants for appropriateness for program.Accepts or denies applicants for entry into the Halfway House program.May be asked to act as Program Supervisor's designee in interviewing each client before admission in order to preview all intake data with client.Provides client orientation to treatment services.Assists clients in completion of necessary assessment forms / documentsConducts individual assessment sessions for completion of psychosocial histories of clients.Assists in other assessment processes as required and requested.Participates with Program Supervisor in development of recommendations for clients.Develops and coordinates individual treatment plans with client, Program Supervisor, and referral sources.Work collaboratively with the Department of Corrections to make certain that residents involved in the legal system are meeting probation / parole requirements.Work collaboratively with other agencies providing supportive services to residents.Maintains appropriate client and pre-client case records.Conducts individual sessions consistent with treatment plans.Facilitates groups as required and provides follow-up services.Provides clients and families with referral resources for the services not provided by the agency or when agency services are inappropriate.Meet individually with residents to discuss progress / problems in meeting the Halfway House requirements.Implement family activities designed to improve family and resident interactions.Do random urinalysis testing for substance use.When necessary, make recommendations to Program Supervisor for patient to discharge due to lack of progress, not following program rules, or due to successful program completion.Assure the safety of the facility and report any safety or maintenance concerns to the Facilities Manager.Help to coordinate recovery community involvement in the Halfway House (referring residents to meetings, possibly coordinating on site meetings).Participate in clinical staffing's.Assist in development and continuing assessment of Halfway House policies and procedures.ScheduleType : Full TimeHours : 40 hours per weekMonday-Friday- 9a-5p W / flexibility to work 2 late nights per week (12p-8p).Education and Experience QualificationsThe staff member in this position must have, or must secure within 12 months of hire, certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC).Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited educational institution, preferably in the social or behavioral sciences and with the necessary courses to meet certification standards below (in some cases this may mean special courses in substance abuse beyond the degrees) ORAt least three years of experience as a full-time substance use and / or gambling treatment counselor.Required Knowledge and AbilitiesKnowledge of the theories, principles, and techniques of substance use and problem gambling treatment.Knowledge of the psychosocial aspects of substance use and problem gambling.Knowledge of the principles or recording and report writing.Knowledge of 42CFR and how it applies to Community & Family Resources.Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations.Knowledge of CARF, DHS, and IDPH licensure / accreditation standards.Knowledge of public / private welfare, health care, and substance use / gambling treatment agencies available in the area served by the agency.Ability to apply previous experience and training to the provision of problem gambling and substance use treatment services.Ability to establish good working relationship with clients and staff.Ability to secure appropriate information by direct and collateral interviews.Ability to analyze problems presented, to bring agency / community resources to bear within policies and regulations, and to develop and implement effective courses of action.Skill in client evaluation, therapeutic planning, and integrating best practices into the therapeutic milieu.Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time.Ability to diffuse and manage stressful events personally and professionally.Benefits : Health insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceIPERS retirement benefitOptional 401KEmployee Assistance ProgramGenerous PTO (20 days accrued in your first year)9 paid holidaysPaid trainings and CEU opportunitiesPublic Student Loan Forgiveness employerTuition reimbursementVarious discounts including tuition fees at partner schools, travel, cell phone plans, and more!Application Process : Candidates interested in applying should submit an application and resume.
