Description

Function:  The Community Events Manager is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all community partner fundraising engagement to grow public awareness and raise the necessary resources to meet the Community Food Bank’s (CFB’s) mission throughout Southern Arizona. This includes CFB Signature events, Food and Food Drives and third-party events.  This position will work collaboratively across all departments to identify opportunities for individuals and diverse stakeholder groups to become involved with the organization’s emergency response and long-term solutions to end hunger.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and oversees CFB’s community events, food and fund drives and signature events.
  • Plans, budgets and develops a strategic plan for engaging corporations to support the goals and fund the mission of CFB.
  • Networks with corporate businesses and community organizations to promote food drives, event participation and sponsorship opportunities, volunteer assistance opportunities, etc.
  • Tracks and researches prospects, donor visits, solicitations, and revenue generation through donor database.
  • Researches and secures new sources of financial support, including local businesses.
  • Provides excellent customer service and collaboration with partners for successful and increased community engagement.
  • Provides warehouse tours, presentations, and speaking engagements as needed.
  • Works with online fund drive platforms to include creating and promoting online drives for hosts.
  • Plans and manages committee meetings in consultation with committee co-chair(s).
  • Orients, trains, coaches, motivates, measures, and evaluates the Food Drive & Events staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of planning, budgeting and developing strategic plans for engaging corporations to support organizations goals and fund the mission.
  • Ability to energetically lead, motivate, and inspire different generations and demographics through an array of strategies.
  • Ability to track and research prospects, donor visits, solicitations, and revenue generation through donor database.
  • Ability to travel and work some evenings and weekends.
  • Strong team management and leadership skills.
  • Analytical and able to set and measure goals and results.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, volunteers, donors, and businesses.
  • Strong time and management skills, long range planning and ability to 'see' roadblocks in advance.
  • Ability to work without a high-level of direction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in learning internally and externally and incorporating new information into role.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse economic, social, and political backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of experience in community-based organizations, special events and volunteer management.
  • Two (2) years of staff management and supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing or a related field or relevant experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
  • For company insurance purposes, at least 21 years of age; possess a current Arizona Driver’s License with a safe driving record.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working or volunteering at a nonprofit and/or food bank.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Physical Requirements:

  • Light Work – ability to exert 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
