What You’ll be Doing

Dishwashers are responsible for the smooth-running of the deli by ensuring that dishes, pots, pans, and utensils are clean and ready for use and disposing of deli waste products.

The majority of shifts for this role will be scheduled in the afternoon and evening hours.

What You’ll be Responsible for

• Keeping the dish area clean and organized.
• Washing thoroughly the dishes, pots, pans, utensils.
• Putting dishes, pots, pans, utensils away in appropriate places.
• Taking out trash and recycling.
• Removing trash and bus tubs from the front of the house.
• Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of recycling area in the parking lot and dish pit area.
• Sweeping and mopping kitchen floors including the walk-in.
• Participating in cleaning projects as needed.
• Assisting in putting away orders, as instructed.
• Taking directives from others regarding prioritizing tasks based on immediate needs of kitchen.
• Communicating with co-workers when leaving, returning from a break.
• Communicating concerns and ideas to manager.
• Communicating with co-workers, offering help, when needed.
• Ensuring department sanitation, cleanliness and safety standards are met.
• Performing other duties in front and back of house as needed and assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide friendly face-to-face customer service in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to learn about deli products and interest and ability to gain knowledge of natural and organic grocery industry
• Ability to handle multiple demands, remain calm, think quickly, prioritize effectively, and problem solve within established guidelines.
• Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment where teamwork, compassion and constant communication are essential.
• Ability to meet expectations of regular, predictable attendance.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
• Ability to maintain current food handler card.
• Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in moderate and loud noise environments including, but not limited to paging, telephones, human voices, music, and machinery.
• Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking.
• Ability to withstand frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and rotating.
• Ability to use fine motors skills such as gripping with hands
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds frequently.
• Withstand exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to learn to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job – dishwasher.
• Ability to climb ladders occasionally.
