We operate six convenient locations throughout Reno and Sparks, providing comprehensive, top-quality medical services, dental and pediatric care, behavioral health, low-cost pharmacies, nourishing food pantries, and more. 

Job Summary: The Community Health Alliance (CHA) Community Health Worker (CHW) is dedicated to improving patient outcomes related to social determinants of health, improving access to resources, assisting patients in controlling and preventing chronic conditions. Community Health Workers are certified trained public health educators improving health care delivery requiring integrated and coordinated services across the continuum of health under the supervision of their collaborative practice with a medical provider.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Ability to provide CHA patients and the general public with a general description of CHA’s services and programs
2. Ability to work with strategic partners on collaborative messaging and program coordination
3. Ability to facilitate presentations regarding CHA’s programs, services, and pertinent healthcare information
4. Must exhibit professionalism when directly engaging with the public
5. Will be required to collect data survey information
6. Will be expected to keep accurate records to maintain the integrity of research findings
7. Knowledge of community resources
8. Skill in operating a computer/laptop utilizing word processing, presentations, databases, and e-mail
9. Skill in operating various office equipment, such as calculator, copy machine, fax, smart phone, and telephone system
10. Skill in accuracy and attention to detail
11. Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and medical information according to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations
12. Ability to read, write legibly and calculate mathematical figures
13. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of issues
14. Ability to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions
15. Ability to work and interact effectively and positively with other staff members to build and to enhance teamwork in the clinics and overall Community Health Alliance (CHA) organization
16. Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner
17. Ability to understand and respond appropriately, effectively and sensitively to any population or group (cultural competency). Ability to hear and speak to converse over telephone and interview patients.
18. Ability to hear and speak to converse over telephone and in-person
19. Ability to see to use computer efficiently and read computer reports and correspondence

Education and Experience: Health care experience for at least two years preferred. Bilingual preferred. Electronic medical record experience preferred. Ability to obtain Community Health Worker certificate within one year of hire.
