Position Summary
CHP is seeking a Program Coordinator I (PCI) to assist the Community Engagement team with outreach, education, canvassing, and engagement to meet emergency preparedness goals. The PCI will lead community engagement efforts in building relationships, engaging community members, and connecting resources in the counties of Santa Cruz and Monterey on how to prepare for emergency disasters. This position reports to the Director of Community Engagement.
The position requires an organized and highly motivated team player with initiative, commitment to movement-building, and the ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Train, supervise, and coach community health workers
- Identify neighborhood areas and organizations/agencies to conduct presentations and outreach, such as but not limited to tabling and door knocking
- Plan, organize, and facilitate community forums
- Identify, build, and maintain partnerships with key organizations and community leaders
- Distribute materials to build awareness and connect resources to the community
- Identify and collect resilient stories of families, adults, and seniors
- Develop project workplans and project timelines
- Provide support in evaluation and reporting on key quality measures
- Collect, maintain, and conduct program evaluation and reporting
- Provide support when developing reports for funding agencies and others
- Other responsibilities are assigned to meet program and agency mission, goals, and objectives
Qualifications
- Fluency in Spanish
- Bachelor’s degree in health and human services or related discipline or two years of experience working in a health, social service, or movement-building nonprofit environment
- Shares CHP’s community engagement values of respect, trust, integrity, compassion & empathy, collaboration, and empowerment
- Has deep ties in your communities and uses language that facilitates community engagement
- Understands barriers that may prevent people from engaging and knows strategies in overcoming them
- Experience conducting outreach and presentations
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships
- Familiarity with data collection
- Diplomatic and strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Computer literacy of Windows software, Microsoft Office, and database systems
- Must have access to transportation and be willing to travel throughout Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties
Job Requirements
- Valid California driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and proof of liability insurance

- TB clearance & willingness to follow COVID-19 safety procedures & Santa Clara County’s Public Health Officer’s Orders
- Successfully pass a criminal background check
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and evenings
