A wonderful family is looking for a caring person to help take care of their son during the night. He's a sweet guy who doesn’t talk and has autism, as well as diabetes, so he needs a little extra attention while he sleeps. If he wakes up, you'll gently encourage him to get back to bed, and you can read him a story or play some soft music to help him relax. The schedule is pretty flexible—two nights on and two nights off, with three-day weekends every other weekend. Community Horizons is excited to help find a private caregiver to join a loving in-home care team. In this rewarding role, you'll provide important support and hands-on help with personal care and light housekeeping tasks. Your work will be essential in helping this community member maintain their independence at home.
This job is part of a self-direction program, meaning you'll work directly for the individuals who need your help. This setup gives you more flexibility and control over your schedule and allows for a more personal and meaningful working relationship, since the individual will hire you directly.
**Schedule:**
- Weeknights: 10 pm - 8 am
- Weekends: 10:30 pm - 7:30 am
- Week 1: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat
- Week 2: Sun, Wed, Thu
**Tasks:**
- Keep an eye on their blood sugar levels.
- If they're awake and want to stay up, do some quiet activities together.
- Enjoy reading interesting stories with them.
- Play soft music to create a calming atmosphere.
- Help with personal care, like cleaning up after they use the bathroom.
**What you need to succeed:**
- A driver’s license and a reliable car.
- Experience caring for others is a plus, but not required—we'll provide training if you’re a good fit!
- A background check will be necessary.
