**What You'll Do:**
As a Resident Support Specialist at CHI's Hempstead location, you will provide a safe, structured, and supervised environment for residents and staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining visibility among residents, staff, and visitors by wearing a safety monitor vest, ID badge, and professional attire.
- Screening all clients and visitors entering the facility.
- Performing bag searches upon intake and as required.
- Ensuring clients abide by facility, DSS, and OTDA policies and procedures.
- De-escalating potential crisis situations and documenting interventions.
- Conducting rounds throughout the facility, including hallways, stairwells, floors, bathrooms, and common areas.
- Completing logs, incident reports, and required documentation.
- Performing administrative and receptionist duties at the operations/front desk.
- Monitoring video surveillance cameras, fire prevention, detection alarm, and notification system.
- Supporting the running of fire drills, evacuating the building when necessary, and utilizing fire safety procedures.
- Maintaining inventory of cleaning and office supplies and ensuring proper distribution.
- Informing management of work site physical condition, including dangerous conditions, possible repair needs, supply needs, etc.
- Supporting afterschool/evening activities as needed.
**Requirements:**
- **Education**: High School Diploma or GED required.
- **Experience**: 1-2 years of experience working in a related field preferred.
- **Communication**: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in English required; bi-lingual Spanish a plus.
- **Computer Skills**: Basic competency in MS Windows, MS Office, and internet usage.
- **Physical Performance**: Ability to tour property, walk distances, and climb stairs.
- **Reasoning Ability**: Ability to prioritize, make appropriate decisions, and perform notifications.
- **Other Skills**: Ability to work independently or as part of a team, be highly organized, assume responsibility, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, be flexible, and maintain attention to detail.
**Additional Information:**
**Salary**: $19.00 per hour (approximately $15,808 annually).
**Overtime Available**: Opportunities for overtime available.
**Open Shifts**: Saturday-Sunday, 4 pm - 12 am.
