Summary

The Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing CK’s fundraising strategy, including identifying and securing funding from a variety of sources such as major donors, foundations, corporate sponsors, and individual supporters. The ideal candidate will have substantive experience in nonprofit fundraising, a passion for building relationships, and the ability to create and implement a comprehensive development plan to achieve CK’s fundraising and revenue goals.

Core Responsibilities

  • Donor Engagement
  • Analyze donor trends to target lapsed donors, expand recurring donors, retain new donors, and maximize donor retention.
  • Maintain and track records of donor activity and provide monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Develop and maintain a donor recognition program, including surveying donor satisfaction.
  • Send donation thank-you letters and make thank-you calls quarterly.

 

  • Fundraising Event Management
  • Plan and execute Give Local 757, Giving Tuesday and End-of-Year donation campaigns, including social media, emails, phone calls, mailers, and peer-to-peer partners.
  • Strategize and coordinate additional individual fundraising events from start to finish.

 

  • Community Partnerships
  • Develop and execute strategies and campaigns to engage potential community partners, donors, and benefactors.
  • Maintain and develop relationships between Community Knights and potential and existing community partners, donors, and benefactors.
  • Cultivate relationships with major donors, foundations, and worksite (community) partners.
  • Develop community partnership by reaching out to local associations and workplaces to secure speaking opportunities and introduce CK to the community.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with media contacts to promote fundraising events and initiatives.

 

  • Program Administration & Marketing
  • Updating CMS (currently Bloomerang) with donor information.
  • Disseminate annual tax letters.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications colleagues to develop content for both print and digital marketing and promotional materials, including one-sheets, ads, solicitations, social media channels, and our website.

 

Additional Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Collaborate and engage with other staff members (in-person or remotely via GoogleChat, Email, phone, and or text).
  • Participate in staff meetings as required.
  • Attend various events in support of our mission as required, which may be outside of traditional business hours.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and/or experience supporting individuals with disabilities through appropriate use of accommodations. All CK staff must pass criminal and social services background checks.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in fundraising, stakeholder engagement, account management, or similar experience.
  • Possession of, or actively working towards, a professional certification (CFRE, CFRM, or similar accreditation or studies) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively as needed.
  • Must be able to use data to identify needs then develop and execute strategies to address them.
  • Must model professionalism and embody the mission of Community Knights in interactions with others.
  • Growth mindset, empathy, and emotional intelligence desired.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Proficiency with using and learning technology for communication, documentation, and file sharing is essential. Experience with Google Suite of applications, Canva, and/or Bloomerang is a plus.
