What are the responsibilities and job description for the CLS Summer Intern position at Community Legal Services?
OVERVIEW
Community Legal Services summer program is designed to give law students exposure to many facets of the firm’s practice. Summer Interns attend training programs where they have the opportunity to interact with other Summer Interns across the firm. Additionally, in their local offices, they participate in outreach, practice group sessions, depositions, trials, and other court proceedings, administrative proceedings, and business transaction closings. We closely monitor work assignments to ensure that Summer Interns work on multiple projects with a variety of lawyers in different practice areas.
RESPONSIBILTIES
- Support host/mentoring attorney with:
- Legal research
- Legal writing
- Litigation support
- Memos
- Other duties as assigned
- Attend:
- Lunch and Learns
- Bar association activities
- Outreach activities
REQUIREMENTS

2. Background and Experience
- Superior academic records
- Completion of one or two years of law school
- High levels of initiative and motivation
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong work ethic
- Extracurricular involvement and leadership experience
- Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and proof of auto insurance.
3. Physical Requirements
a. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
b. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
STIPEND: $3,000 for the entire internship
