Community Living of Rhode Island, a leader in innovative services for people with Developmental Disabilities, is looking to hire Direct Support Professionals (DSP) for our 17 group homes throughout the state of RI.

**The duties of a DSP consist of, but are not limited to:
- Arrive on time to your scheduled shift.
- Follow the agency dress code.
- Participate in each Participants developmental service plan, and accomplish their agreed upon goals.
- Promote independence for the Participants, where they are capable.
- Establish a one-on-one primary relationships with specific Participants, as assigned.
- Perform case management and related tasks as assigned.
- Being aware of the emotional state of all the residents, at all times.
- Being aware of the emergency procedures regarding hospitalization, suicide management, fire, etc.
- Knowing the appropriate times to contact the On-call Nurse and On-Call Manager during a Crisis Situation.
- Attending to the emotional needs of all Participants following any crisis situation.
- Documenting all clinical information in the Participants record book, according to procedures.
- Communicating with other staff members of medical information and concerns.
- Giving verbal notice to in-coming staff when you are leaving your shift.
- Attending all staff meetings to discuss house business and interpersonal issues with Participants and staff, and develop constructive ways to work out any problems, and discuss general house management issues and agency policies.
- Assuming primary responsibility for house management functions as assigned by the Program Director, Coordinator or Manager.
- Monitor and administer Participants medications as necessary.
- Ensure that you complete all required training's (medication , CPR, CPI, CORE, Online Training, Virtual & In-Person trainings, etc.)
As a DSP you are also required to perform Job Coaching duties with Participants who are employed, when directed to do so by a Supervisor.
**The duties as a Job Coach consist of, but are not limited to:
- Arrive on time to the Participants job.
- Dress appropriately or as required by the job site.
- Assist the Participant in performing the work responsibilities in such a way that fosters independence.
- Continue to assess the Participants vocational, social, communication and independent skills required by the specific job setting.
- Perform task analysis of each task as needed and provide guidance to participants.
- Identify job site modifications as needed & recommendations to the Employment Specialist.
- Comply with the policies and procedures of the job sites.
- Report to the Employment Specialist any needs, problems or concerns.
- Provide a summary of each shift worked with the Participant to the employment Specialist within 24 hours of each shift.
- Report to the Employment Specialist on a regular basis.
