Description
General Summary
Oversee general teller duties but in line with established policies and procedures, provides a variety of service functions. This position is responsible for balancing each day’s transactions and verifying cash totals.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties
- Responsible for staying up to date on and complying with all applicable banking laws and regulations as well as CNB policies and procedures.
- Wait on customers with a friendly & helpful manner.
- Provide prompt, efficient, and accurate service when processing transactions such as deposits, loan payments, money orders, cashing checks, cash advances, and traveler’s checks.
- Handle large sums of cash and balance cash drawer daily.
- Identify customers, validate, and cash checks.
- Answer inquiries regarding accounts and other bank related products, or direct customers to the appropriate department for assistance.
- Attempt to resolve issues with customer’s accounts.
- Balance ATM machine, pull reports and balance branch.
- Assist tellers with problems and outages that occur on teller side and Web capture.
- Assist Branch Manager in keeping up with teller schedules and lunches.
- Make appropriate supervisor override with teller transaction in question.
- Buy and sell money from FED for the Branch.
- Balance vault daily for teller buy and sell transactions.
- Assist with Branch Capture as needed.
- Helpful and friendly with training of all teller functions, able to answer all questions and concerns, and be a role model for all Tellers.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time to process work and assist customers.
Qualifications
Skills and Abilities Required
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Advanced knowledge of basic mathematics to solve problems and account for large sums of money.
- General knowledge of basic computer programs and phones.
- Ability to make appropriate job decisions following standard office policies and past precedents.
- Ability to adapt to technological changes and apply new knowledge to responsibilities.
Certifications/Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 6 months of cash handling experience required.
- 1-2 years of experience as a teller preferred.
Working Conditions
- Exposed to a potentially hazardous condition-robbery.
- Considerable effort and eyestrain from continuous computer use.
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally move office equipment, and files weighing 10 pounds.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 85% of the time to process work.
