Summary :

The Major Giving Officer CRNC is a visionary professional responsible for building and managing a comprehensive major gifts program to support CRNC’s mission. This is a newly established program, requiring a proactive and dynamic individual to cultivate and engage a network of supporters. This position brings a passion for public media to CRNC and can use that passion to develop and cultivate positive relationships with donors which ultimately result in financial support.

Essential Functions :

Donor Portfolio Management

  • Develop and manage a personal portfolio of approximately 75-100 individual donors capable of giving $10,000 or more annually.
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, tailoring approaches to align with donor interests and organizational goals.
  • Conduct 10-12 high-quality donor interactions monthly, including in-person meetings, phone calls, event engagement, and proposals.
  • Create and execute individualized donor strategies in collaboration with key CRNC staff and select board members.

Program Development and Capital Campaign Contributions

  • Design, build and grow the major gifts program, integrating best practices and innovative approaches.
  • Support the President & CEO in capital campaign efforts, including identifying and engaging potential campaign donors.
  • Design and present systems to support moves management and donor engagement strategies.
  • Responsible for all messaging to major donors including written and email solicitations.
  • Work closely with the President & CEO to schedule necessary joint meetings and / or provide dossiers on donors; collaborate on strategy.
  • Community and Board Engagement

  • Work with CRNC’s leadership team and board of directors to identify and engage key stakeholders on the Front Range and mountain communities such as Steamboat Springs, Breckenridge and Vail.
  • Attend and support board committee / full meetings as needed, providing updates and engaging board members in strategic fundraising efforts.
  • Event Coordination and Donor Stewardship

  • Develop and implement targeted major donor cultivation and stewardship events to foster engagement and loyalty.
  • Coordinate with CRNC leadership to create meaningful opportunities for individual major donors to connect with CRNC’s mission and impact.
  • Ensure timely and personalized donor stewardship, including impact reporting and recognition.
  • Administrative and Strategic Responsibilities

  • Create and manage an annual business plan and budget for the major gifts program.
  • Follow, enact and utilize CRNC’s strategic plan to secure funding.
  • Utilize donor research, CRM systems, industry best practices and data analysis to inform strategy and prioritize prospects.
  • Regularly evaluate program performance, adjusting strategies based on results and feedback. Prepare regular reports on progress and metrics to present to the President & CEO, and to the Board of Directors, when necessary.
  • Additional Responsibilities :

  • Assists President / CEO with board fundraising development.
  • Cultivates donor relationships with high level of personal communication through telephone, electronic, written communication.
  • Assists senior management with identifying potential funders for project funding opportunities, including grant writing.
  • Assists with on-air fundraising, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

    Knowledge

  • Knowledge of prospect research and wealth screening tools.
  • Knowledge of and previous engagement of key stakeholders in the State of Colorado.
  • Experience with MailChimp or related software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Thorough understanding of principles and methods used to promote and display the Organization.
  • Knowledge in donor prospecting and research.
  • Knowledge and experience in creating compelling fundraising proposals.
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud Raisers Edge software.

  • Experience and Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, management or related field; additional fundraising training or certifications a plus.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in fundraising, with a proven track record in major gifts ($10,000 ).
  • Experience engaging boards of directors in fundraising initiatives.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license.
  • Must reside in Colorado.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is helpful.
  • Experience in public media fundraising and familiarity with capital campaigns is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, donor research tools, and project management software.
  • Physical Demands :

    The employee frequently stands, walks, sits, uses hands and fingers, reaches and lifts with arms, climbs, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee is required to frequently lift up to 30 pounds without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment :

    The employee typically works indoors in a standard office environment but is required to travel to other locations for station events and donor meetings.
