Organization Overview:
The Dalton Community Recreation Association (CRA) is a collaborative non-profit organization established in 1923, dedicated to building a sense of community by offering social, educational, recreational, cultural, and wellness programs to the Central Berkshire community in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
Position Summary:
The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for scheduling and overseeing the CRA’s pool operations, including aquatic programs, safety procedures, and compliance with Massachusetts regulations. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to create a positive and engaging aquatic environment for community members of all ages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pool Scheduling: Manage and coordinate the pool schedule for open swim, classes, lessons, rentals, and special events.
- Program Development: Plan, implement, and oversee aquatic programs, including swim lessons, lifeguard training, and water fitness classes.
- Staff Supervision: Recruit, hire, train, and manage lifeguards, swim instructors, and other aquatic staff to ensure a safe and professional environment.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all programs and facilities comply with Massachusetts health and safety regulations, including maintaining proper certifications for staff.
- Facility Maintenance: Work with facility staff to ensure proper pool maintenance, cleanliness, and water quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Current Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross or equivalent)
- CPR/AED & First Aid Certification (Professional Rescuer Level)
- Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) Certification preferred
- Experience in aquatics program management, scheduling, and staff supervision
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends as needed
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position (35 hours per week) with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform basic lifeguard duties as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and respond quickly to emergency situations.
