The Substance Abuse /HIV Outreach Counselor serves as an advocate to the Community Rightful Center’s clients and partners. The ideal candidate will demonstrate compassion for clients, commitment to success and value relationships. This role will require you to conduct outreach and bring individuals for substance abuse outpatient treatment. It will also require testing for HIV and provide preventative services to the community.
1. Provide HIV testing, outreach, and education for the high-impact prevention program.
2. Screen & bring individual with substance abuse problems for outpatient treatment.
3. Assist in facilitation of client flow and coordination of all clients for outpatient substance abuse & mental health treatment.
4. Refer, schedule, and maintain appointments for Outpatient Substance Abuse treatment, HIV and STD testing.
5. Accurately complete required assessment forms, lab requisitions, and additional written materials.
6. Collect and collate oral specimens.
7. Assist in data entry and preparation of monthly reports.
8. Follow universal safety precautions.
9. Provide and maintain an atmosphere which incorporates the standards and protocols HIV Testing and Linkage program at the Health Education Learning Project
10. Provide pre and post-test health education and screening regarding HIV/STD infection, transmission, prevention, and testing.
11. Participate in staff meetings and other meetings as needed.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of human-service experience
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must present self in a professional manner.
- Must be able to work maturely with confidential information.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work under minimal supervision.
- Basic computer knowledge/literacy required
- Must complete and successfully pass State background check and FBI clearance.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
