Summary:
The Payroll Accountant is responsible for ensuring all aspects of the payroll and employee benefit processes are represented appropriately in the financial ledger and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of payroll accounting principles and practices, experience with integrated payroll and accounting systems, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. The Payroll Accountant reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.This position is part of CSG's Administrative Fiscal Services team.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, flexible. Hybrid/remote position upon completion of training that may be based out of any of CSG's regional offices.

Maintain Payroll Records: Ensure accurate and up-to-date payroll records and employee benefit rates are maintained in the integrated system, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
Tax Compliance: Audit of payroll tax processes to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations, including filing timely and accurate tax returns and payments. Maintenance and registration of state and local tax accounts
Reconcile Payroll Accounts: Reconcile payroll transactions and accounts within the integrated system, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
Reconcile Benefit Expense Accounts: Audit of employee benefit transactions and accounts within the integrated system, identifying and helping to resolve any discrepancies.
Reconcile Payroll Bank Account: Monthly reconciliation of payroll bank account statement, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
Auditing: Prepare documentation and reports to facilitate the completion of annual company audits including Workers’ Compensation, 401(k), payroll, and ad hoc audits as necessary with outside vendors or agencies.
Reporting: Generate payroll reports as needed, including but not limited to, payroll summaries, tax reports, and employee earnings statements.
System Management: Assist with the maintenance and optimization of the integrated payroll and accounting system.
Internal Controls: Adhere to and help improve internal controls related to payroll and employee benefit processing.
Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with Human Resources and other departments to ensure accurate and timely processing.
Stay Current: Keep abreast of changes in payroll legislation, regulations, and best practices.
Qualifications:
This position requires one of the following combinations of education and experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with proven experience as a Payroll Accountant, preferably with experience using integrated payroll and accounting systems. Strong understanding of payroll accounting principles, practices, and relevant legislation. Proficient in Google Workspace and other relevant software. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
Experience with Workday.
Experience with Pennsylvania local tax regulations
