Position Summary:
The Job Coach is instrumental in providing support to individuals with disabilities at a work site to ensure the employee learns to perform job tasks to the employer's specifications, as well as, teaching interpersonal skills needed to be successful on the job. The hours for this job are “as needed” and are flexible and/or work for six weeks during summer break.
Reports to: Assistant Vice President of Employment Services
Responsibilities:
- Assist clients to learn job tasks
- Help in developing job supports on the job site
- Aid in determining possible job accommodations necessary for client to maintain successful employment
- Be willing to work a flexible work schedule
- Be trained by experienced Employment Specialists
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and relationship building skills with employers
- Ability to instruct clients on learning acceptable work behaviors
- Ability to take a task and identify the step-by-step process to complete the task
- Knowledge of ADA/reasonable accommodations can be a plus
- Computer skills – Microsoft Word – for writing Monthly Job Coaching Reports
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Dependability, Loyalty, Integrity
- Reliable transportation to work sites throughout the Kansas City metro area or at a summer work site.
- Available hours to work a flexible work schedule on an “as needed” basis or available to work 20 hours a week, six weeks during the summer months
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
