Starting Hourly Rate: $18.50/ hour
Community Servings' mission is to actively engage the community to provide medically tailored, nutritious, scratch-made meals to chronically and critically ill individuals and their families. In addition, we are committed to prioritizing racial and economic justice and health equity in all our programs and business practices.
We are a dynamic and fast-growing agency at the forefront of the "Food is Medicine" field, providing over 1M medically tailored meals annually to clients and their families experiencing illness and food insecurity in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, our work strongly focuses on supporting the regional local food system, delivering high-quality nutrition education to the community, and hosting an on-site food-service workforce development program. Over the past 34 years, the agency has provided 13M free, scratch-made meals.
The Porter’s main role will be to manage sanitation and organization of kitchen equipment and work areas. This will be accomplished in a combination of individual effort and by working with volunteers to complete tasks.
Primary Responsibilities:

Porter:
- Ensures the proper cleaning, sanitation and storage of all small kitchen equipment and dishes.
- Empties trash, compost and recycling when appropriate and replaces can liners
- Ensures floors are swept and mopped nightly.
- Ensures rotating floor detailing occurs according to schedule
- Assists with in-the-moment cleaning of work and storage areas
- Clears/cleans Community Room after lunch.
- Refills Orange Force and Sanitizer bottles daily
- Refills gloves, paper towels and hand soap at every station in the kitchen daily
- Cleans and maintains dish machine and all other dish room equipment
- Maintains an organized and clean dish room at all times
- Completes assigned cleaning projects in a timely manner
- Performs daily walkthrough check lists
- Performs daily chemical checks
- Other tasks as assigned.
Education:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
Experience
- Experience working as part of a team.
- Comfortable interacting with the public.
- Good communication skills.

Physical Demands and Special Work Conditions
This position requires an individual to have the ability to lift to a maximum of 50 lbs. and includes bending and standing for long periods of time. The incumbent must maintain skills necessary to safely and efficiently operate the following equipment and machines used in the performance of this job: kitchen equipment (i.e, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer, and chef's knives) and the telephone.
