SUMMARY:
Since its founding as a teen drop-in center in 1972, Community Solutions (CS) has grown in both depth and breadth of services in response to the growing and changing needs in the community. As one of the most comprehensive nonprofit human services agencies in Santa Clara County and the surrounding areas, CS provides prevention, intervention, treatment, and residential services to more than 6,400 clients annually, helping them overcome the challenges posed by mental health issues, substance abuse, trauma, severe family dysfunction, sexual and domestic violence, and human trafficking.

- A.A. degree and one-year direct client work experience or three years direct client work experience in a related field required or equivalent.
- For Residential Program, must successfully complete State Community Care Licensing training program provided by Community Solutions during the first week of employment
- Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist (MHRS) certification preferred.
- The individual will preferably be bilingual and bicultural.
- Empowerment, advocacy, trauma-informed and support techniques for people with mental illness or substance abuse issues required.
- Working knowledge of wellness and recovery concepts, Medi-Cal regulations and program documentation strongly preferred. Working knowledge of community resources in Santa Clara County and surrounding areas strongly preferred
What You'll Be Doing in the role of Program Specialist II:
- Ability to achieve productivity expectations and maintain assigned case load and work within a program structure.
- Aptitude to accurately apply Medi-Cal mandated regulations and documentation requirements based on training and ensure audit ready charts.
- Must have strength-based, problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Consistently applies good judgment and safeguards information to comply with all confidentiality requirements, ethical, and legal obligations of the program and Agency.
- Works collaboratively with the team to maintain positive morale. Treats team members in a professional and respectful manner. Shares acknowledgments and support as appropriate to build a healthy well-functioning team.
- Works well independently with a minimum of clinical supervision. Provides high quality care within scope of discipline.
- Effectively engages and interacts with clients and families demonstrating strong interpersonal skills. Handles all client interactions in a courteous and professional manner using effective listening skills and seeks to understand others divergent views.
- Must have good customer service skills including a professional telephone manner.
- Demonstrates cultural competency by effectively working with people differing in value systems, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, language capabilities and disabilities.
- Provides positive reinforcement to clients. Helps clients explore their options and empower them to make their own decisions and be self-sufficient.
- Ability to act calm in emergency situations and works successfully in high stress work environment. Ability to comprehend and communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Writing skills, grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation must meet documentation requirements.
- Exhibits organizational skills and good time management with the ability to prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks and demands of the job.
- Ability to efficiently complete assigned duties, work within a program structure and provide timely follow-through of work assignments to meet deadlines.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency using Internet Explorer, MS Office programs (WORD, EXCEL and OUTLOOK), and have the ability to quickly learn time and attendance software and electronic medical records (EMR) application.

Community Solutions offers a competitive and comprehensive starting rate of $23.73 - $24.69 per hour.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work Environment and Location: Work is performed in office, clinic, or community environments.
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance as required by specific programs, licensing regulations and Community Solutions practices.
- License: Possess a valid California driver’s license, current car insurance and a good driving record as documented by a DMV report and consistent with the Agency’s liability insurance requirements.
- Requires an automobile to perform routine job duties.
