Description: The Director of Community Engagement and Communications serves as the District’s school, parent, and broader community liaison, and is responsible for all aspects of community engagement as well as strategic, proactive, and reactive communications. This position is a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
Reports to: Superintendent
Anticipated Dates: July 2025 - October 2025
Community Engagement
- Responsible for the District’s social media channels including developing content and monitoring engagement on the District’s platforms as well as other social media channels.
- Serve as the District’s community and parent liaison by maintaining active partnerships with chambers of commerce, municipalities, park districts, libraries, service clubs, the business community, school-based PTAs and boosters, PTA Council, non profit organizations that serve students and families, and the Student Excellence Foundation.
- Actively support the District’s annual strategic community engagement efforts, including the annual State of the Schools presentations to various community groups.
- Maintain active involvement at all District schools to understand the unique characteristics of each school community and support activities and events as needed.
- Support the District’s Safety Committee and maintain strong, working partnerships with first responders.
- Support and coordinate district-level events such as parent education events, and others as needed.
Communications
- Strategically partner with the Superintendent and Senior Leadership Team to develop, write, and send regular, proactive District communications to effectively communicate initiatives related to the strategic plan and the business of the Board of Education.
- Develop, write, and send crisis communications as needed.
- Support principals, administrators, and departments in developing and writing proactive, reactive, and crisis communications.
- Lead all media relations efforts including developing media releases as well as serving as the spokesperson for media requests.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the District website as well as support all school-based website editors.
- Oversee the mass communications system and mobile app and provide support to schools as needed.
- Develop and produce informational and marketing materials and related collateral, including videos, to communicate key District initiatives.
