What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Administrator position at Company X?
Essential Job Functions
· Process weekly payroll for a large volume of union employees, ensuring accurate and timely payment.
· Review union contracts and ensure proper application of wage rates, benefits, and deductions according to collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).
· Accurately calculate overtime, double time, shift differentials and other union-specific payroll components.
· Communicate with union representatives and on-site management to resolve payroll-related issues or discrepancies.
· Process payroll new hires, terminations/layoffs and other notice of changes.
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws as well as union-specific regulations and requirements.
· Prepare and submit union dues and reports, ensuring timely submission and compliance on a monthly and annual basis.
· Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll data and handle inquiries with discretion.
· Assist with year-end payroll processing, including W-2 mailing.
· Stay updated on changes in union agreements
Knowledge/Skills
· Understanding of union payroll rules, collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), wage rates, and union benefits.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
· Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in processing payroll data.
· Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with internal teams, union representatives, and employees.
· Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot payroll issues and resolve discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner.
· Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Education/Experience
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of payroll experience, preferably with a focus on union payroll.
