Position Synopsis:
Responsible for the planning and execution of an exciting and dynamic age-appropriate worship experience every weekend (including worship and music, video, teaching, games, and any other creative elements). This position includes teaching biblical truths, praying with children, and baptizing. This position is accountable to the NFW Children’s Director who will supervise, encourage and evaluate the effectiveness of the person in this position.

We Require:
The Elementary Children’s Ministry Director must attend and be a member of Compass Christian Church. They must be a committed Christian who is comfortable working in a church environment and is like-minded regarding our Christian Beliefs (Must agree with our Beliefs, Core Values, Staff Commandments in the application).
Essential Job Duties
- Recruiting/inviting volunteers in the K-5th Grade Children’s Ministry
- Teach Biblical truths, pray with children, and baptize children when they are spiritually ready.
- Plan and execute age-appropriate worship services weekly.
- Communicate consistently with parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities as well as providing the tools they need for spiritual leadership. Effectively help build a strong partnership between church and family
- Responsible for the promotion of Children’s Ministry through multiple platforms, including social media
- Ensure the safety, both physically and emotionally, of all children who participate in Children’s Ministry
- Responsible for administering and developing the comprehensive standards, curricula, and programming elements for each area of oversight, and ensure its successful implementation and alignment with the overall vision of the church
- Assist with children’s ministry experiences and events as needed
- Must be available during weekend programming hours
Other Responsibilities
- Communicate consistently with parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities as
- Uphold Compass Christian Church’s mission, core values and 12 staff commandments
- Provide regular individual contact to encourage and show appreciation to volunteers and parents using phone calls, personal notes, mail-outs and personal meetings
- Attend ministerial staff meetings weekly, Children’s Ministry Team meetings, and other staff meetings as needed
- Attend a Rooted session
Qualifications
Education and Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- Be a Biblically-based and Spirit-filled follower of Christ, falling in line with the mission, vision and beliefs of Compass Christian Church.
- Be a stable, mature and growing Christian with an exemplary personal, marital and family life (if applicable).
- Must be of moral and spiritual integrity in all areas of walk and life.
- View tithing as a responsibility and a joy, willing to give back to what God has so richly blessed
- Ability to attract, assess and equip volunteers and develop them to their fullest potential. Possess a proven track record of developing leaders to minister to children and families.
- Capable of working with volunteers from a variety of background and experiences.
- Ability to create fun and engaging community-wide events for children and their families.
- Ability to craft and cultivate relevant, high energy, multi-sensory, and age-appropriate environments for kids.
- Motivated to always keep current on and implement the most modern and creative approaches to learning and teaching.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use appropriate judgment in the areas of discretion, sensitivity and confidentiality.
- Be proficient with the use of most common software like Excel, Word, and Pro Presenter. Ability to become proficient in the use of the church database system
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in children’s ministry preferred
Staff Relationships
- Accountable to the NFW Children’s Director, who will supervise, encourage and evaluate the person in this position.
- Work collaboratively with the other Compass ministers and ministries.
- Loyal to the Compass Christian Church staff.
- Practice Matthew 18 and show 100% support in all decisions made as a team.
