Job Title: Discipleship Pastor – Chandler Campus
Reports to: Adult Ministries Pastor
Compass Church is seeking a passionate and experienced Discipleship Pastor to lead and grow our discipleship ministries. This role will oversee key spiritual formation initiatives, including Rooted and Alpha, while working closely with the Groups Pastor to expand and strengthen our church’s small groups. The Discipleship Pastor will play a vital role in fostering a culture of spiritual growth, equipping leaders, and ensuring that every member of our church has a pathway to deepen their faith and connection within the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and Lead Discipleship Ministries – Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for ministries such as Rooted and Alpha, ensuring these ministries are effectively implemented and grow in impact.
- Support and Grow Small Groups – Collaborate with the Groups Pastor to develop strategies that encourage small group participation and leader development.
- Develop and Equip Leaders – Recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders for Rooted, Alpha, and small groups. Provide pastoral guidance and encouragement to group leaders and members.
- Spiritual Formation Pathways – Continue to develop and refine a clear discipleship pathway that helps individuals take the next steps in their faith journey.
- Teach and Facilitate – Teach and facilitate discipleship courses, training sessions, and leadership development opportunities.
- Community Engagement – Partner with other ministries within the church to integrate discipleship into the broader church experience.
- Administrative and Ministry Support – Manage budgets, schedules, communication, and resources for discipleship ministries.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Bible college degree (or equivalent theological education) preferred.
- 5-7 years of ministry experience, with a strong background in discipleship, small groups, or spiritual formation.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills with experience in equipping volunteers.
- Excellent communication, teaching, and pastoral care abilities.
- A heart for discipleship and a passion for helping people grow in their faith.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented ministry environment.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
